Corner Puzzle Pieces

Corner PieceRemember the wooden puzzles from when you were a kid?

The first thing I would do with these puzzles was look for the corner pieces. Typically, these were the first ones I would put in place.

The corner pieces help frame out the rest of the picture. Corner pieces give you a small glimpse into the whole picture.

How do the pieces fit?

Putting the corner pieces on a puzzle first is very similar to trying to find out how all my skills and experience fit into my puzzle. I don’t know what the whole picture looks like, but I know what some of the pieces are.

I also know I have almost all the other pieces I need to complete the puzzle. Now I have to figure out how all of the pieces fit together. This is process I’m going through right now. Many times the thing we are good at we can’t see because it’s just something we do.

I feel I have a new confidence knowing I already have all the pieces to finish my puzzle. Now I have to figure out how it all fits together.

Do you have your corner puzzle pieces?

Love this! Laying down your corner pieces, then the frame is key to solving a puzzle. In my opinion corner pieces consist of values, integrity and so forth but also what Dan Sullivan calls Unique Ability(R). In other words your two to three unique only to you awesomeness. Those things you were born to do. Once you have that you can fill in the rest.

Thanks, Camilla – this came out in a conversation with Jim Woods. I know what I want the next part of the journey to look like. I now have to figure out how these skills I have figure into that puzzle.

So true! This hit home for me. Love this line “Now I have to figure out how all of the pieces fit together.” I know the outline of my “puzzle”, now it’s putting it all together.
